Area 51

Walk out of the back of the lorry. Climb up onto the crates on your left. In a space behind these crates you will find a small medi pack. Climb back up and draw your Desert Eagle. Run forward and kill the guard that emerges from the left.

Follow the corridor around to the left and go into the room to the left of the red rifle sign. In here you will find an MP5 and two lots of MP5 clips. There is a switch in the room but don't press it.

Go back out into the corridor and on your right you will see a wall switch. Press this and a grating raises up. Crawl in to find a room with a large medi pack and another space to crawl into.

Crawl in but stay crouched on the other side to avoid the rotating lasers cutting across the length of this new tunnel. There is a dark area to the left. As the lasers pass over your head, to the right, run left and crawl into the space.

Light a flare and you will find a large medi pack. Walk back to the crawlspace and crouch. As the laser starts back to the other end quickly crawl to the middle. The next time the lasers comes from the other end, and pass over your head, run forward and climb the ladder.

Climb up onto the next ledge and crawl halfway into the tunnel. You will see a guard walk to the right. If he starts running he has seen you and is running to switch some lasers on. If he is walking, crawl out behind him and kill him with the Desert Eagle.

Directly across from where you crawled out is a switch on the wall. Pull this to release a friendly prisoner from the cells on the left. In the middle of the corridor between to concrete pillars is a crawl space where you can find some flares.

From here you can see another ledge. Climb up. Crawl through the next tunnel to come out in a corridor. The area is split length ways by a laser, which targets the ceiling mounted rotating guns.

Head forward up the corridor and around to the left. There is a guard in the far end of the room. Kill him with the Desert Eagle or the MP5 before he raises the alarm. If you look out of the window there is a guard with the infra red sights on his rifle. If he is walking around in a circle you killed the guard before he could raise the alarm. (Otherwise this guard will be trying to shoot at you.)

Halfway along this corridor, just behind the crate, is another small room. Here you will find grenades, harpoons and a rocket. There is a small switch on the wall but this just opens and shuts the door.

Go back out to the main corridor and follow it around until you come to a closed door with a wall switch. When you press the switch you will drop to the desert floor. The guard you saw through the window is the one you need to kill next.

Draw the Desert Eagle and run to the left side of the slope you have just slide down. Kill the guard before he can reach the alarm pad. If you are not attacked by a couple of German Shepherd dogs you know you made it in time. If the dogs appear you were too late and the first secret is blocked.

If you follow the ledge around to the left there is an area you can crawl into with some grenades in it. Crawl through to the other side. Pull yourself up and look around to the right to find some shells on a small ledge.

Head back to the pit area you have just run past and drop down in. Run around to the left and pull the switch to open a gate below. If you run around right you fall through a grate and have to climb back up for the switch.

Carry on around to drop through the grate and kill the guard. There are two areas that you can crawl into. The one with a energy/save gem is Secret 1. Crawl out of here and run to the area opposite. Crawl in and find some Desert Eagle clips.

Crawl out and to the right. Here you will find some MP5 clips. Draw your Desert Eagle and walk across to the grating. You will fall through to another corridor. Kill the guard there and collect the small medi pack he drops.

Go down the shorter side of the corridor and turn left. Unlock the cell door at the end and release the Prisoner. The prisoner will go off and may kill a couple of the Guards for you while you are doing other things.

(Be warned the guards may fight back and kill the prisoner! I discovered this when I was playing this section several times to get good screenshots.)

Go back down the other end of the corridor. Just before it ends in a T-junction there is an area you can crawl into on the left. There is a large medi pack in here.

Crawl through to the other side and drop down to find the shotgun. Crawl through into the next area of corridor. Draw your Desert Eagle and run down to the left. As you come around the corridor you can see a guard at the other end of the corridor.

If your friendly prisoner is still around he will attack the guard who will not have seen you yet. While he is fighting the prisoner he may run towards you. You will know when he is close enough to shoot because Lara will target him.

Make sure the guard is in front, otherwise you will be targeting the prisoner. At each end of this corridor is a monitor with a switch. Press the switch to get a glimpse of one of the guards waiting to jump out, when you try to go through the open doorway up ahead.

Halfway down the corridor is an area with an open doorway and a pair of closed doors either side. Draw your Desert Eagle. Hang back to let the prisoner go through the open doorway. When you try and move towards the open door, it closes and the other doors open. There is an armed guard behind each door.

Shoot one then turn to shoot the other. Be aware that they can still shoot you after you have killed them. As they fall to the floor they get off a couple of extra shots. So it's a good idea to move around as you're shooting them.

The room on the left has a wall switch, which raises a grating in the room on the right. The guard in the room on the right will also drop a small medi pack. Pick up the medi pack and crawl into the space.

Follow the tunnel up and to the left to come out on the other side of the closed doorway. If the prisoner got through the doorway he will be waiting for you here. As you walk through the sensors at the bottom of the slope you will trigger an alarm.

A guard will appear at the top. If the prisoner is here, he will run up and fight the guard. If not shoot the guard yourself. Then run up the slopes and turn left at the top. You now have the option of going left or right.

Follow around to the right and shoot the guard across the room. Jump down to the ground and climb up the ladder in the opposite corner to reach the dead guard. He will have dropped a code clearance disk. Pick it up and drop back to the floor.

Climb back up the first ladder and go back down the corridor. Keep to the right and you will come onto a ledge above a large room. Climb down the ladder into the room. On your left is a laser sensor along the wall.

There is also a laser sensor across the room. These sensors trigger the rotating canon in the corner of the room to the right of the monitors. Go down the left side of the conveyor belt with the missiles on it. In the dark you will find a small medi pack.

Come back into the middle of the room. Face the three computer monitors and on the right hand wall you can see another small computer next to the grill of a doorway. Jump over the sensors and use the code clearance disk on the smaller computer. You need to position yourself correctly in front of this computer - if you are too far to the left nothing will happen.

As you insert the disk the missiles will be lifted off of the conveyor belt. Jump over the laser beam and climb up to the ledge on the left of the swinging hook. Run straight ahead and you will be able to climb up through the grating into a corridor Secret 2.

Climb down the ladder at the end and collect the save gem. When you climb back up you will need to shoot out the grill to get out of the corridor. Run past the hook and pick up the shells. Now safety drop to the floor.

Climb onto the conveyor belt and do a running jump onto the ladder opposite. Climb up the ladder and get the MP5 ready. There is a grill on the right with an armed guard behind it. Kill the guard and collect the Hanger Access Key he drops.

Climb back down to the ground and leave the room via the ladder at the end of the conveyor belt. Keep to the left in the corridor to end up back in the missile silo. Go through the doorway and run past the hole following the corridor down to the right.

Use the Hanger Access Key here to open the next door. You can kill the unarmed guard beyond with just your pistols. Drop into the railway tunnel and run down to the left. At the end you will find a ladder on the left. Climb up and there is a switch that calls the train.

Climb back down and head up towards the train. Just before the train you can crawl under the track to another ladder. Climb up into a small area with some shotgun shells. From this area you can jump across to the top of the train. If you accidentally land on the track, the electricity will kill you.

To make the jump you need to start on the left of the entrance and jump to the edge of the train. Otherwise you will not be able to make the jump. Walk to the far edge of the train and pull yourself up onto the ledge above.

Run across the first set of grating. Stop in front of the second set of grating. Jump up and grab the grating above so that you can monkey swing across. If you walk on the grating it will fall away and drop you on the electrified track.

There is a rotating laser sweeping back and forth. Monkey swing as close as you can get safely. Then wait for the lasers to be heading away and follow across so you can drop down safely on the other side.

Run along to the end. Draw your MP5 and drop down next to the ladder. Take a running jump across to the other side of the track. A guard will appear from the right side of the platform heading left.

Kill the guard before he makes it up the slope or there will be another armed guard to fight at the top of the sloped corridors. Don't miss the shotgun shells under the track on the right.

Climb onto the platform and head up the slope. You come into a corridor outside of the UFO hanger. This corridor is crossed by laser sensors, which will activate the ceiling mounted, rotating cannons if you run trigger them.

Jump over the three lasers and follow the corridor around to the left. At the end is an area with a number of crates. Climb over the crates and drop down on the other side. Draw the MP5.

Walk forward into the next room. Kill the guard who tries to reach the corridor on the right before he can raise the alarm. You can see a couple of catwalks on either side of the room. You reach these by climbing onto the central monitor bank.

At the end of each catwalk is a switch. Pressing the switch opens one of two sets of doors on the far side of the room. The first time they are pressed they also release an armed guard into the tunnel beneath the catwalk you are on.

The doors are timed so you will need to do this again after you have killed each guard you release with the switches. The switch on the left controls the front set of doors and the switch on the right controls the back set.

The front set stay open longer so need to be done first. When you have pressed the switch you lose sight of Lara and it is difficult to control her. As soon as you have activated the switch press the buttons for a side flip into the corner and then do a roll. You can now run straight down the catwalk.

If you jump onto the central monitors from here you can either run across for the other switch, or jump off to run through the gates. Doing it this way stops Lara pausing to adjust after a big jump and wasting valuable time.

Go through the double set of doors and on the left is a row of switches. These switches open the door to the UFO hanger. Each time you press the right switch you get a picture of the doors. After the third correct switch you see the doors swing open.

You need to pull the second, fourth and last switch. An armed guard will appear from the back of the switches beyond the last switch.

There is a small gate to the right of the gates you came through which opens when you run towards it. If you do the switches quickly and run out of the gate you can avoid the armed guard completely.

Go back to the other side of the room and climb back up the crates. Follow the corridor back around to the right and you will find the now open doorway on your right. Run down to the far right corner of the room where you will find a switch next to a ladder.

Press the switch and climb up the ladder. Just before the top hit the jump button and backflip onto a ledge behind you. Here you will find some shotgun shells. You now need to work your way around the right side of the room to reach the platform on the other side.

Walk forward onto the slope of the support strut. Walk into the corner nearest the catwalk on the opposite side. Hop back and do a running jump across to the catwalk. Drop down onto the top of the UFO from here and collect the Launch Code Pass.

Slide down to the floor from here. Head back to the railway tunnel avoiding the lasers. Do a running jump across the track (do not grab). Climb up the ladder and head back down the tunnel to the train.

Head back towards the missile silo. This time though, climb down into the hole in the floor. You will drop into a corridor with a locked door and a switch. Pull the switch. Go through into the next room where she can use the Launch Code Pass. This raises the cover on the launch switch

When you press the launch switch immediately press the roll key. Straight after do a right side flip. Then start sprinting as soon as you land. If you have done these moves correctly you will outrun the flames from the rocket exhaust.

Now head back to the rocket silo. Go up the ladder on your left and you will find you can climb up further than before. There is a large medi pack on an isolated ledge. You can jump across and retrieve this. Look at the ceiling to give yourself the most room to jump.

There is another ladder. There is an unarmed guard at the top. Climb to the top and use the look key to see where he is. Climb off on the opposite side, then kill him with the MP5. If he hangs back until you get off the ladder do a side flip across to the other side. This stops him from pushing you off the edge.

Pull the switch by the double doors and they will slide back. Go down the slope to the right. You have to crawl through the next part. Watch out for the rotating lasers.

The idea is to crawl out when the lasers start moving away from you. Then stand up and jump over them as they come back. Finally run forward and crawl into the space at the end.

As you come out you can see some grenades. Pick them up and then head down the slope. Follow around to the left until you reach a dead end. You can see an armed guard in a tower above. Pull yourself up, take out the MP5 and kill the guard in the tower as well as the guard that runs towards you.

Go down the ramp on the left and kill the armed guard in the room there. Pick up the Code Clearance Disk he drops. Pull the lever to open a trapdoor on the other side of the guards' tower.

Climb down the hole and follow the corridor down until you get to a section with a rotating laser sweep. The way around this one is to follow it as it goes away and then duck before it starts to return.

As it goes over you run forward and go around the corner to your right. Jump to the grating at the end and climb down. You come out in the corridor leading up to the UFO hanger. Be careful to avoid the lasers again.

It's very easy to accidentally catch a laser. If you look at the floor pattern there is one circular pattern per square. The laser passes over the centre of a square. To make sure you clear the laser with a standing jump, make sure you start in the edge of the next square.

If you manage to clear all the lasers the second rotating cannon remains inactive. Go back into the hanger and run through into the tunnel on the other side. Put the Code Clearance Disk into the computer there.

Turn around and you can see an alien on a table. The entrance to the room is an open door on the left. Collect the energy/save gem in the corner. Don't forget the small medi pack in the darkened corner opposite.

Come back out and find another door leading to an aquarium with a couple of Orca whales in. Go all the way around to find some flares and Desert Eagle clips in the corner. The door to the last secret is now open. The door of the spaceship is also open but you need to get the last secret first.

Climb back up the ladder. Backflip back onto the platform then turn and walk onto the support strut. Jump across to the next strut. Walk across to the adjoining strut then jump to the next one.

Again, walk across to the adjoining strut then jump to the next one. You can now see the entrance to the last secret area. Do a running jump to land in the entrance Secret 3. Look left to see two rotating lasers.

Concentrate on the bottom one. As it is about to reach you jump over it and run straight down the corridor to safety. Drop into the water on the right and have a swim with the whales. While you're there, pick up the energy/save gem.

Go back through the rotating lasers by jumping over the lower one as it comes towards you. Run forward and climb up on the ledge to safety. Go to the doorway and safety drop to the ground. Check your health, as you will lose about a half of your energy bar when you drop.

Replenish your energy and then climb into the UFO. The door will close behind you when you walk around the ship. There is a ledge to the next floor. Climb up and draw your MP5. There is a tunnel behind one of the support columns. An armed guard will appear so kill him.

Follow the tunnel to it's end and climb up into the next floor. In the centre of the room you can see the Ora Dagger. If you run across the platform it is on, two more armed guards will appear. Kill these and then collect the dagger to finish the level.
